KISSING: Here's why you are a bad kisser...

Kissing is a classic sign of affection, but there’s a lot that can go wrong with this simple gesture. A bad kiss isn’t just awkward or embarrassing, it can kill your chances with the person you’re attracted to. According to one study, 60% of people have been attracted to someone and after kissing them for the first time, they were no longer interested. Talk about a bad kiss!

So to help you avoid being that person who has no idea their kissing skills could use some work, here are some common traits of bad kissers and how to avoid them:

  • You're not paying attention to how your partner wants to be kissed - It’s supposed to be enjoyable for both of you, so you have to be in tune with your partner."Kissing is almost like dancing with your lips," explains psychologist, Dr. Jeremy Nicholson. "You need to read your partner and figure out what style of kiss they're interested in."
  • You get too intense too quickly- Ideally, you want to start slow with kissing and build up. So keep the tongue action to a minimum at first and focus on the right amount of pressure and limiting saliva exchange, according to sex expert Antonia Hall. It’s not a good sign if someone has to wipe their mouth afterwards, she adds.
  • You have bad breath- Soft lips and great smelling breath are important for kissing, so pop a mint and use some lip balm when in doubt.
  • You're tilting your head the opposite way from your partner - Research
  • has shown that most of us tilt our heads to the right when kissing and one study finds that when people tilted their head the opposite way of their partner, it made them uncomfortable.
  • You're not communicating- No need to wonder if you’re a bad kisser, just ask your partner for some feedback if you want to know the truth. Asking them to show you how they like to be kissed is a fun way to find out, too.
