Goo Goo Dolls' lead singer John Rzeznik has been hospitalized with pneumonia, causing the band to postpone several shows previously scheduled for South Africa.

In a video message posted to Goo Goo Dolls' social media accounts, Rzeznik, from a hospital bed, shared that he discovered he had pneumonia after going to the doctor and was advised to go to the hospital, and is "stuck there for a day or two," also thanking fans for their patience.

The band added in the caption of the video, "We're heartbroken to postpone our South Africa shows. This country means so much to us, and we were so excited to create more memories with you. Sadly, my doctor has advised rest and recovery. Thank you for your understanding—we’ll make it worth the wait when we return in March 2025!"

The Goo Goo Dolls will return to South Africa early next year.

The concerning health update from Rzeznik comes just on the heels of Goo Goo Dolls' newly-announced "Summer Anthem" Tour with special guests Dashboard Confessional. The tour kicks off on July 13th in Phoenix, Arizona, and makes stops across the country including Nashville, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Kansas City, Seattle, Los Angeles and more, before wrapping up in Camdenton, Missouri on September 12th.
