Sam’s Club Is Swapping Manual Receipt Checks For AI:
The Walmart-owned warehouse store, Sam's Club, has announced the replacement of their manual receipt checkers with an artificial intelligence (AI) based system. The new technology, unveiled in a January 9th press release, aims to enhance the shopping experience by eliminating long exit lines. The AI system uses computer vision and digital technology to verify that shoppers have paid for their items. Currently live in Dallas, the company is expected to implement the technology in all 600 Sam's Club locations by the end of 2024. While customers will no longer need to show paper receipts, their carts will still be checked using this new system.
