AUTHORITIES SAY TWO SUSPECTS WERE WOUNDED, WHEN A MULTI-CITY CAR CHASE ENDED IN A SHOOTOUT WITH POLICE IN TAYLORSVILLE, EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.

UNIFIED POLICE SAY THE PURSUIT BEGAN IN SALT LAKE, WHEN OFFICERS TRIED TO STOP A MAN SUSPECTED OF AGGRAVATED ROBBERY.

POLICE SAY TWO SUSPECTS -- A MAN AND WOMAN -- GOT INTO A CAR, AND DROVE THROUGH SEVERAL CITIES, WHILE FIRING SHOTS.

THE CHASE ENDED IN TAYLORSVILLE, WHEN POLICE USED SPIKES TO STOP THE CAR.

THAT'S WHEN A SHOOTOUT ENSUED, AND BOTH SUSPECTS WERE HIT.

THE 31-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS IN EXTREMELY CRITICAL CONDITION. THE 19-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WAS IN STABLE CONDITION.

NO POLICE OFFICERS WERE HURT.

TWO OFFICERS ARE NOW ON LEAVE, PENDING THE SHOOTING INVESTIGATION.
