SALT LAKE POLICE ARRESTED A 34-YEAR-OLD KIDNAPPING SUSPECT FRIDAY, AFTER HIS ALLEGED VICTIM PULLED HIS CAR UP BEHIND A POLICE VEHICLE... RAN TO THEIR PATROL CAR... AND TOLD THEM, THE CRIME WAS IN PROGRESS.

DAMON GREENBERRY WAS ARRESTED -- JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT, FRIDAY MORNING -- IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VICTIM'S CAR.

HE'S CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING AND ROBBERY.

POLICE SAY THE PATROL CAR WAS STOPPED -- AT 4TH SOUTH, 2ND WEST IN SALT LAKE -- ON A ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP, WHEN THE ALLEGED KIDNAP VICTIM APPEARED.

HE CLAIMED GREENBERRY HAD JUMPED INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT... SAID HE HAD A HANDGUN... AND ORDERED THE VICTIM TO 'DRIVE.'

THE ALLEGED VICTIM SAYS THE SUSPECT ALSO FORCED HIM TO MAKE AN A-T-M CASH WITHDRAWL.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES IN THE INCIDENT.
