A man accused of committing up to forty Davis County vehicle burglaries had police hopping early Monday morning, after slipping out of the Syracuse Police Department headquarters.
Police had been interviewing Steven Allen, 21, when they stepped out of the interrogation room, briefly.
That's when he slipped out a door -- wearing handcuffs.
Four hours later, Allen had gotten only five blocks away, and was not finding any holes in the police search net.
So he surrendered himself to one of the searching officers.
Allen was quickly transported to a more secure facility -- the Davis County Jail.
