Budget Cuts Ground Hill Air Force Base F-16s on Independence Day

We can thank federal budget cuts for a break with July 4th tradition, across Northern Utah.

Hill Air Force Base has cancelled its traditional Independence Day flyovers, at various holiday events.

In a statement, the base says deep budget cuts have grounded half of Hill's pilots and aircraft.

Air Force officials say they have no choice but to prioritize their fly hours for military training.

Base officials hope to resume the July 4th tradition, next year.
